Maj. Gen. Rezaei: Hormuz Strait remains completely closed

Pars Today – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that Trump’s claim that the Strait of Hormuz is open is a blatant lie.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said during a special news program discussing the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz: “The Strait of Hormuz is completely closed, and the US claim that ships and oil tankers are passing through it is a lie. Of course, they are taking measures to pass through the rocky route off Oman, and some ships are attempting to do so with their navigation systems turned off. Most of them are hit, and for environmental reasons, we have so far decided not to sink those ships.”

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also announced a new restriction in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, explaining: “In the coming days, we will announce a new restricted zone extending from the US blockade line to the loading ports. Any vessels that take action without coordinating with Iran will be placed on Iran’s sanctions list and will face consequences such as insurance difficulties and restrictions on future passage. Therefore, this marks Iran’s first change in its approach to the Strait of Hormuz, which will put greater pressure on the United States.”

Major General Mohsen Rezaei, responding to the question, “In the previous interview, you mentioned that we would not tolerate the blockade. What measures have you taken in this regard?” explained:

“The claim that the US blockade of Iran will lead to famine is a lie, because the government had anticipated this in advance, and our essential goods and commodity reserves are fully secured. As for oil sales, taking advantage of the opportunity created by the memorandum of understanding, we have moved around 70 to 80 million barrels of oil that had already been produced and stockpiled out of the region, and we are currently selling it. So, our commodity reserves remain stable and oil sales are continuing.”

He added: “As part of changing our war strategy and taking action against the blockade, since the beginning of the 12-day war, we carried out, for the first time, a major warning strike against a US warship. This means that the naval blockade is vulnerable.”

Dr. Mohsen Rezaei further explained: “As part of changing our approach to dealing with the blockade, a shift is also taking place in the area of foreign trade. A country like Iran, which has 15 neighboring countries, should not rely solely on maritime trade, and land-based corridors are now being activated.”
