Global honor for Iranian woman in wheelchair basketball

Pars Today- Huriyeh Baradaran, director of international affairs at Iran’s Federation of Veterans and Disabled Sports, has been elected to the Executive Council of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF).

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the IWBF elections were held on Friday, September 18, on the sidelines of the World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Canada. Huriyeh Baradaran, director of international affairs at Iran’s Federation of Veterans and Disabled Sports, was elected as a member of the Executive Council of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation.

Baradaran had previously served as vice president for Central and South Asia at IWBF AOZ in recent years and has played an active role in developing and promoting wheelchair basketball at both the regional and international levels.

This marks the first time an Iranian Muslim woman has been elected to the Executive Council and Board of the federation.
