Velayati: US has problem with Iran’s strong, independent civilization

Pars Today – Ali Akbar Velayati, an international affairs adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, responded to remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on social media, writing: “Your problem is not with the Islamic Revolution; it is with Iran’s strong and independent civilization.”

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Velayati wrote in a social media post on Saturday that Rubio’s recent speech contained an obvious contradiction. He said that standing firm “to the last man” in ancient Greece was praised, while the resistance of the great Iranian nation was disparaged by labeling it a “death cult.”

“Praising resistance when it is your own side and disparaging it when it is the other side is not civilization; it is theorizing in the service of domination, Mr. Rubio!” Velayati stressed.

Concluding his post, the international affairs adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution wrote: “Your problem is not with the Islamic Revolution. It is with Iran’s strong and independent civilization. Those who brought about the tragedies of Hiroshima, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan have no right to lecture others on morality!”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently made remarks at the Acropolis in Athens that distorted and insulted Iranian civilization. Using a Hollywood-style portrayal of Greek historical accounts of the Greco-Persian Wars, Rubio claimed that the Persians invaded Greece in 480 BC and plundered it.
