Iran, Pakistan FMs discuss key mutual, regional issues

Foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan have held talks about ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly in international organizations, and leading developments in the Middle East.

According to Press TV, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Pakistani counterpart Sartaj Aziz met on the sidelines of the 17th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in the Venezuelan island of Margarita on Friday.

President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to deliver a speech at the 17th NAM summit and hand over the body’s rotating presidency for three years to his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro.

On the sidelines of the NAM meeting, the Zarif also held talks with his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra in Margarita on Friday.

The Algerian foreign minister said he would pay an official visit to Iran in the near future.

In a meeting with Algerian Minister of Energy Noureddine Bouterfa in Tehran on September 3, Iran’s First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri expressed the Islamic Republic's readiness to improve relations with Algeria and emphasized that Tehran sets no limitations to the expansion of ties with the North African country after the removal of sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear program.

Jahangiri added that Iranian authorities are determined to improve cooperation with Algeria in all sectors and noted that the exchange of visits between the two countries’ officials would play an important and effective role in this regard.
