Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan will arrive in Tehran next week for an official visit.
"The upcoming visit of the Armenian defense minister is aimed at boosting defense cooperation between the two nations," an informed military source said, according to Fars News Agency.
The source noted Sargsyan will focus on defense negotiations with senior Iranian military officials, and said, "Boosting bilateral and regional cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan will be on Sargsyan’s agenda during his visit to Iran."
In relevant remarks in late April, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and his Armenian counterpart Seyran Ohanyan discussed the latest developments in the region, including security cooperation.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Moscow Conference on International Security.
During the talks, both sides emphasized the importance of stability and peace in the region and urged all neighbors to de-escalate tensions as an important step towards convergence.
They also discussed the recent tensions between Baku and Yerevan in Karabakh region.
