  • Sunni prayer leader of Tehran: Imam Hossein's uprising best example of bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong

Pars Today- The leader of Friday and congregational prayer of Sadeqieh in Tehran said, "The best example of bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong was the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) and the Ashura uprising."

Mamusta Sheikh Aziz Babayi, leader of Friday and congregational prayer of Sadeqieh, Tehran, analyzed the importance of bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong in a webinar titled, "Imam Hossein, the Reviver of Islam", which was held with the auspices of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought. According to Pars Today, quoting from Mehr news agency, he said on the issue, "Bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong is the axis of the Islamic Sharia and the main duty of all prophets and Imams as the Islamic system will be complete with this great obligatory act."

He added, "We can see that some of the followers of religion are deviated from it due to ignorance, unawareness or obedience of carnal desires; or they shoulder off fulfilling their duties and responsibilities and cause the oppressor to remain in his place. Thus, great deviations will appear in society. That's why, Almighty God has prevented us in the Qur'an from ending in the fate of the Israelites."

This religious figure added, "Almighty God calls the group which rise for bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong among those who are successful; this means that they are chosen for success."

Mamusta Babayi reiterated, "This is a reality that whenever sin and transgression prevail in a society and the society does not show a positive change towards bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong, it will lead to destruction of the society."

He went on to say, "God has mentioned this obligatory act before prayer and zakat in verse 71 of chapter al-Tawba. This implies the greatness of this act."

Mamusta Babayi then stated, "According to the exegesis of Ibn Kasir [a famous Sunni scholar], one of the lofty merits of the Prophet of Islam was that he used to order people to do good acts and prevent them from evil acts. He never ordered except to good deeds and never prevented except from evil ones."

Babayi continued, "God says about the most important characteristic of Muslims, 'You are the best Ummah which has emerged among people, as long as you bid what is right and forbid what is wrong'".

The Friday prayer leader of Sadeqieh stated, "Almighty God says elsewhere that the difference between those who have faith and the hypocrites is in the characteristic that the faithful men and women enjoin good acts and prevent from evil ones; but the hypocrites (men and women) urge each other on evil acts and prevent from good ones."

Mamusta Babayi said in the end, "The best example for bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong has been the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) and the Ashura uprising. Therefore, we should not neglect bidding what is right and forbidding what is wrong and we should pay special attention to it."
