Pars Today- Discovery of mass graves in Gaza, with hundreds of bodies, has drawn the attention of the UN experts and officials.

There is no international definition of a mass grave. However, forensic experts define the phenomenon of mass grave as "the place of burial of remnants of numerous persons often beside each other."

1. Discovery of 140 mass graves in Gaza

Mohammad al-Moghabat, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor Director, announced that since the start of the Zionist regime attacks on Gaza on October 7, 2023, nearly 140 mass graves have been discovered in the region.

2. Discovery of approximately 400 corpses in s single mass grave

Palestinian officials on October 27, 2024, announced the number of the discovered corpses in a single mass grave in the Nasser hospital area to be 392.

3. Melting of the Palestinian martyrs' corpses with the banned weapons of the Zionist army

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported: The Israeli army uses thermobaric weapons in the Gaza Strip which lead to decomposition and melting of the corpses of victims.

It should be said that thermobaric weapon is a kind of explosive substance which uses the air around to create blast in high temperature.

4. Guterres's request to carry on independent investigation on mass graves in Gaza

   Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, said on April 30, 2024, "It is necessary for independent international inspectors, with forensics specialty, to have permission for immediate access to mass graves in order to clarify the exact conditions in which hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives and been buried."

5. Holding of UNSC session about discovering mass graves

Algeria called on the UN on May 5, 2024, to hold a session behind closed doors on the discovery of mass graves in the Gaza Strip.

6. Palestinians' reaction

The media bureau of the Palestinian government considered the Zionist regime responsible for these mass graves and called them and the general condition of Nasser medical complex as a "heinous crime".

7. Israel's reaction

The Zionist regime army, in a statement, called the claim of burying Palestinian corpses as "baseless" and added, "During our operation in the area of Nasser hospital, they have tested the corpses buried by Palestinians for finding the hostages and missing."

8. Probable stealing of body organs of Palestinian martyrs by Zionists

The documentary films and photos of the corpses of victims in mass graves containing the effects of torture, tying of hands with plastic threads, stomachs opened and stitched with unusual methods, and amputated hands and feet in gowns indicate that they have been buried in mass graves and cause suspicions on stealing of some body organs.

9. Buried corpses had been injured and sick

The Europe-Med Human Rights Monitor announced that civil defense teams of the Gaza Strip, in examining of the corpses of victims buried in mass graves, noticed that many of them had been killed with tied hands, and the evidence, also, indicate that many of these victims had been injured and sick.

10. Serious violation of international human rights rules

Ms. Ravina Shamdasani, Spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, said, "Some of the corpses observed in mass graves had been handtied; an issue that indicates serious violation of international human rights rules and international humanitarian rules and more investigation should be done on them."
