Lebanese political parties and personalities criticize the government's passive inaction with regards to Israeli aggression

Pars Today – Lebanese political parties, factions and personalities forthrightly condemned last Sunday's Israeli military aggression targeting the Dahieh neighbourhood of Beirut, emphasizing that the United States provides the Israeli regime with the necessary political cover to carry out its crimes and aggressions, and that today, it is more evident than ever before, that "the armed axis of resistance represents the best chance of Lebanon to confront foreign occupation and military aggression".

According to a Pars Today report, Lebanese political parties, factions and personalities issued a statement roundly condemning the on-going and intensified Israeli military aggression against Lebanon, including last Sunday's drone strike against the Dahieh neighbourhood of Beirut.

The statement added: "The barbaric drone strike aimed to intimidate and threaten the general public and impose Israel's hegemony over Lebanon. It is a clear violation of the recent ceasefire agreement, as well as UN security council resolution 1701.  This callous action displays the inherent aggressive nature of Zionism, and its couldn't-care-less approach to international laws and United Nations resolutions, and signals the regime's intention to carry on with its on-going military aggression against Lebanon.

The statement further says: "It should be noted that the barbaric military attack against the Dahieh district of Beirut takes place amid the conspicuous silence of the international committee tasked with monitoring the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel. The United States which heads this committee, as usual, is providing Israel with all the political cover it needs to carry on with its barbaric military aggression.

Lebanon's political parties, factions and personalities went on to criticize the Lebanese government for its passive approach vis-à-vis Zionist enemy aggression, and they stressed: "Israel's ongoing aggression against Lebanon highlights the grave responsibilities shouldered by the Lebanese government and all parties and organizations vis-à-vis "defending the homeland and confronting aggression by the enemy".

The statement poignantly adds: "At this time, more than any other time in our history, Lebanon needs unity and solidarity between the army, the Lebanese people, the axis of resistance, and the government. This unity is Lebanon's only effective weapon, and real point of strength, giving hope to the nation as it tackles military aggression and hegemony by the Zionist enemy".

The statement also emphasizes Lebanon's right to resist aggression and occupation. The statement forthrightly rejects any demand for "disarming the axis of resistance" because the weapons of the axis of resistance are "precisely what is needed to confront foreign occupation, military aggression and other ambitions of the Zionist enemy".

The statement also stresses "national, political and popular support for the axis of resistance" in Lebanon.
