US President Joe Biden’s approval rating has sunk over growing fears of his administration’s failing policies at home and abroad.

A fresh poll by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released on Wednesday found that just 36 percent of US adults think Biden is doing a good job handling the economy, with 42 percent saying they approve of his performance overall.

Mounting US debt, surging inflation, rising cost-of-living, and a global move away from the dollar have given rise to fears that his hyped "Bidenomics" was not helping to reverse the imminent and inevitable collapse of the US economy and had failed in both policy and slogan.

Meanwhile, Biden’s popularity has remained steady throughout most of his administration, with disapproval sinking below 50 percent after August 2021 and staying there ever since.

The AP-NORC poll found that only 24 percent of Americans want Biden to run for a second term in 2024. Even among self-described Democrats, 55 percent said they don’t want the incumbent to have another go at it. His mishandling of the economy, failing foreign policy and the age factor appear to be the key issues why some Democrats said they disapproved the president.

This may have something to do with the nation’s tumultuous housing market, where prices have spiked and some analysts have expressed fears the US economy may be spiraling out of control in a worse scenario than the Great Recession of 2008 or the Great Depression of 1929.

The poll showed, however, that the opposition to Biden is not as strong as it is for former President Trump, with just 43 percent of Americans saying they would definitely not vote for him in 2024. Another 11 percent said they probably would not.
