  • Concerns about possibility of Turkey’s continuation of arms exports to Israel amid Gaza war

Pars Today- A newly released report by the state-run Turkish Statistical Institute about weapons exports to Israel after October 7th 2023 has become controversial.

According to the data released by the state-run Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government continued weapons sale and export to Israel in the midst of the Zionist regime’s ongoing brutal war against the Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank and other occupied territories.

The continued arms export to the Occupied Territories has sparked outrage among the people and a number of Turkish Parliamentarians.

According to the data released by TÜİK, only in the period between November 2023 to January 2024, Turkey carried out arms exports to Israel worth approximately $80,000.

The released photos by TÜİK showed the weapons exported from Turkey to the Occupied Territories as of January 2024 included gunpowder, ammunition, weapons and other military equipment.

Following the huge controversy, Turkey’s Defense Industry Agency and the Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense on Tuesday (March 26) in separate statements denied the allegations about the military collaboration with the Zionist regime.

Also Turkish Ministry of Trade in a statement claimed that the exported gunpowder and explosives to Israel in recent months were not for military use.

Earlier, 15 opposition members of the Turkish Parliament joined more than 200 legislators from 13 countries in expressing their opposition to the export of arms to Israel for its ongoing war on the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.

Turkey was the first Muslim nation to recognize Israel and have bilateral ties with the Zionist regime. Bilateral ties between Turkey and the Zionist regime were normalized in 1949 that later grew to the level of cultural, trade, and even defense.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was also the first Muslim leader to visit the grave of Zionism founder Theodor Herzl in the Occupied Territories.

Since October 7th 2023, the Zionist regime backed by all- out support from Western countries launched a new massive massacre against the oppressed and defenseless Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

According to the latest reports, so far more than 32,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 74,000 others wounded in the Zionist regime’s attacks since October 7.

The foundation of the Israeli regime dates back to 1917 with the scheme of colonization by Britain and through the migration of Jews from various countries to the land of the Palestine.  The establishment of the illegal, Zionist regime of Israel was declared in 1948. Since then, various plans for mass genocide of Palestinians and the seizure of all their land have been carried out by the occupying regime.
