Pars Today - According to the European Center for Law and Justice, the Palestinian Institute for Public Diplomacy, the Palestine Rights Organization, and the Forensic Research Institute (FORRI), plaintiffs have asked the German government to protect their lives and stop exporting weapons to the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to the provided statistics, in the first three months of this year, the German federal government issued final permits for the export of military equipment worth 5.2 billion euros. According to the Federal Ministry of Economy's report, about 90% of exports are made to close partner countries, and almost three-quarters (74%) go solely to Ukraine. Therefore, the initial three-month figure is unusually high compared to previous years.

The Zionist regime, an important customer

Additionally, according to an analysis published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in March, Germany, alongside the United States, provides almost 99% of the total imported weapons to the Occupied Territories.

According to SIPRI's estimates, the Zionist regime has imported 30% of its weapons from Germany between 2019 and 2023.

The German government has prioritized the export of German-made weapons to this regime. After the al-Aqsa Storm operation, Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, accelerated the delivery of weapons to the Occupied Territories.

Germany's weapon exports to the Zionist regime increased tenfold last year compared to 2022, reaching $354 million. Of this amount, approximately $22 million consisted of offensive weapons, including 3,000 portable anti-tank weapons and 500,000 bullets for machine guns or other fully or semi-automatic weapons.

Lawyers' dispute

In this regard, and with growing concerns, German lawyers have asked the Berlin court to demand the German government to stop exporting weapons to the occupied Palestinian territories, as these weapons are being used to seriously violate international laws.

According to media reports, this is the second lawsuit filed by lawyers affiliated with Palestinian organizations active in Europe.

According to the European Center for Law and Justice, the Palestinian Institute for Public Diplomacy, the Palestine Rights Organization, and the Forensic Research Institute (FORRI), the plaintiffs have asked the German government to protect their lives and stop exporting weapons to the occupied Palestinian territories.

The lawyers have cited several facts, including that Germany has become the largest European arms supplier to the Israeli regime. Most of these weapons have been sent to the Zionist regime after October 7, 2023.

According to the War Weapons Control Act, the delivery of weapons and Berlin's support to the Israeli regime violates the commitments of the Federal Republic of Germany.

One of the criteria for approving weapon exports is that these weapons are not used against Germany's commitments to international laws, while the Israeli regime has violated human rights and international humanitarian laws in its war against the people of Gaza.

Nicaragua's lawsuit

The government of Nicaragua has also recently filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands, demanding that Germany stop sending weapons to the Zionist regime. Nicaragua has asked the International Court of Justice to prevent Germany from providing military aid to Israel.

This country has accused Berlin of supporting genocide and violating international humanitarian laws in Gaza. The Nicaraguan ambassador to the Netherlands told the Hague court that Berlin is ignoring its commitments to international law by continuing to provide military aid to Israel.

He emphasized: "There is no doubt that Germany is well aware of the genocide, but it still continues to support Israel.""
