Pars Today - Following talks between the Presidents of the United States and Russia regarding the end of the Ukraine conflict without considering Kiev's demands, the President of Ukraine has become disappointed with the White House.

Donald Trump, the U.S. President (February 12), contacted Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, and discussed various topics, the most important of which was negotiations to end the Ukraine conflict. Meanwhile, Rudion Miroshnik, the special envoy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that future negotiations between the Presidents of Russia and the United States have caused fear and concern among Kiev officials and some European representatives.

Although Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, indirectly told Donald Trump that Kiev would not accept any agreement reached without Ukraine’s involvement, negotiations regarding the end of the Ukraine conflict between the U.S. and Russia are expected to begin soon, given the discussions between Trump and Putin.

On the other hand, European countries such as Germany, France, the UK, Poland, Italy, Spain, the European External Action Service, and the European Commission issued a joint statement early Thursday morning (February 13), emphasizing their support for Ukraine's "independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity" and announced their readiness to cooperate with the U.S. to achieve "lasting and fair peace" in Ukraine; a subject indicating that these countries also accept the U.S.-Russia negotiations.

By examining the main causes of the Russia-Ukraine war, one can point to Kiev's efforts to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), an issue Western leaders say depends on the end of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Nevertheless, the Russia-Ukraine war continues, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy's efforts to win over European countries and NATO leaders for Ukraine’s accession to NATO remain futile. For instance, Pete Hegseth, the new U.S. Defense Secretary, who recently traveled to Germany on his first foreign trip as Pentagon chief to attend a meeting of NATO defense ministers concerning the Ukraine war, emphasized: "In Washington’s view, returning Ukraine’s borders to those of 2014 is impossible."

The current situation of Ukraine's government reflects this Iranian proverb: "Stuck here and pushed away there." This proverb refers to individuals who, due to changing circumstances or wrong decisions, suffer more losses instead of progress and remain stranded in ambiguous conditions.
