  • NATO's biggest arms program approved / American expert: NATO seeking new Cold War

Pars Today- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has approved its greatest arms program for the recent decades.

The United States has told the NATO member states that "they cannot rely on Washington for defense" and asked them to agree with appropriating %5 of their own GDP for defense. According to Pars Today, quoting from Young Journalists Club, NATO military alliance on Thursday in Brussels, ratified its greatest arms program since the Cold War era with the pretext of confronting Russian threats. This program calls for expansion of deterring and defensive capabilities of NATO in the next years and includes new goals for military capability of the member states.

According to these goals, every member state will know exactly what to provide for joint defense and deterrence. This decision was made during the meeting of the NATO defense ministers in Brussels on Thursday (June 5).

In this regard, James Jutras, former aide to the US Congress and an expert of international relations and legislature, believes that NATO has no plan for ending confrontation with Russia. He said in an interview, "They want this situation to turn into the permanent feature of the world order. They are in pursuit of reviving a new cold war." This American analyst stressed that Western countries are not interested in settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and their aim is to undermine Russia.

According to Jutras, the more sanctions Europe imposes on Russia, more people will be the hostages of their current rulers.

Jacques Emil Claude, retired French colonel and political analyst, had already said that Kiev and its supporters in NATO and the EU, after three years of collective attempt to undermine Russia, should admit their defeat in the Ukrainian conflict. He stressed that Ukraine has turned into an instrument in the hands of the Western countries and this situation is dragging the people of this country towards disastrous consequences.
