Pars Today – An American writer stated that the destruction of Gaza is not merely about ethnic cleansing or the annihilation of a Palestinian city, but is equivalent to an attempt to erase an entire nation, its culture, and its history—a history that exposes the foundational lies behind the establishment of the Israeli regime.

The Palestine Information Center, citing American author Chris Hedges, recently wrote that in recent months, the Israeli army, using its vast war machinery, has committed crimes reminiscent of Nazi brutality: from collectively starving the population to destroying the city of Gaza, one of the oldest cities in the world.

According to Pars Today, bulldozers and heavy equipment are demolishing hundreds of partially ruined buildings in Gaza, while Israeli tanks and aircraft target neighborhoods, forcing survivors to move south through the rubble.

The process of turning Gaza into a deserted ruin will take months, repeating a scene reminiscent of Europe during World War II, when Warsaw, the capital of Poland, was destroyed by the Nazi German army.

Currently, neighborhoods such as al-Sabra and al-Tuffah are rapidly being emptied of residents. Drinking water is scarce, and the occupying regime is attempting to cut its flow to northern Gaza. Food is either scarce or extremely expensive; the price of one kilogram of flour has risen to $22, at times equating to the value of human lives.

According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), the world’s most authoritative body on hunger, famine has been confirmed in Gaza for the first time. The report adds that over 500,000 people are grappling with “hunger, poverty, and death”, and the situation is expected to soon spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis.

In just recent months, nearly 300 people, including 112 children, have died from hunger.

However, the response of Western leaders to this moral catastrophe has been limited to silence or superficial expressions of regret. Joe Biden, Donald Trump, and many European leaders are not only complicit in these crimes but, by sending weapons and financial support to Israel, are effectively accomplices in the genocide of the Palestinian people.

Israel claims it intends to “occupy” Gaza, but in reality, its aim is nothing short of the complete destruction of the territory. Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s minister of finance, has openly stated that Gaza must be entirely demolished, with the remaining Palestinians pushed to southern areas and then forcibly displaced to other countries.

In this process, Gaza’s historical and cultural heritage has also been systematically targeted. Ancient structures such as the Al-Pasha Palace from the Mamluk era, Barkouk Castle, the Great Omari Mosque, and even ancient Roman and Commonwealth cemeteries, along with universities, archives, hospitals, and churches, have been destroyed. The ancient port of Anthedon (al-Balakhiyya), dating back over three thousand years, has now been reduced to a pile of rubble. The destruction of these sites constitutes a direct attack on humanity’s historical and cultural memory.

This policy is not only a crime against the Palestinian people but also an assault on the world’s civilizational heritage. Just as in Bosnia, where Serbs attempted to erase the past by blowing up mosques, Israel has a similar aim in Gaza: erasing history and replacing it with Zionist myths to justify occupation and genocide.

While Israel seeks to erase Gaza from the map, it is in fact sowing the seeds of its own destruction. A land built on denial, violence, and genocide will sooner or later face an inescapable truth: destruction from within.
