The image of Virgin Mary that survived the fire
Pars Today – In a remarkable incident in Serbia, the only item to remain intact amidst the rubble of a burned house was a painting of the Virgin Mary, which firefighters described as a “miracle.”
The Serbian Interior Ministry stated that during the fire, the painting of the Virgin Mary was found untouched among the ruins. According to Pars Today citing Metro, firefighter Nenad Matijasović discovered the painting while extinguishing the blaze.
The Serbian Interior Ministry called the event a “miracle,” emphasizing: “Firefighters, in difficult moments, not only fight the flames but also preserve memories, faith, and what is valuable to people. This is not just a miracle; it is the mission, humanity, and truth of firefighters’ work.”
According to Metro, the incident recalls similar events. Last year in Guatemala, after a shop fire, all the books were burned except for a Bible, which remained intact. A local firefighter said, “The word of God is incredible, because the Bible survived even amidst the flames.”
