Pars Today – Two American skiers at the Winter Olympics expressed their discomfort with wearing the team jersey following the killing of people in their country by the Trump administration.
After two people were killed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis last month, widespread protests erupted across the United States, with many finding ways to voice their dissent. According to Pars Today, U.S. Olympic skier Hunter Hess criticized Trump’s repressive policies at a press conference in Italy, saying: “Just because I carry the U.S. flag doesn’t mean I represent everything about this country.”
At the same press conference, Chris Lillis, another member of the U.S. ski team, said: “Many times, athletes hesitate to speak about their political views and how they feel about certain issues. I am heartbroken by what is happening in the United States.”
U.S. President Donald Trump could not hide his anger over these remarks, saying: “U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday morning. “If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team, and it’s too bad he’s on it. Very hard to root for someone like this.”
