Pars Today – China’s representative to the United Nations described the US and Bahrain draft resolution on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz as “inappropriate” and opposed it.

According to Pars Today, Fu Cong, the Chinese ambassador and current president of the UN Security Council, criticized the draft resolution proposed by the United States and Bahrain on the Strait of Hormuz, saying that its content and timing are not appropriate and its adoption would not be helpful.

Previously, Russia’s representative to the United Nations had also warned against the adoption of anti-Iran resolutions in the Security Council, calling on council members to avoid escalating tensions and introducing confrontational draft resolutions.

The draft anti-Iran resolution proposed by Bahrain on the Strait of Hormuz—submitted on behalf of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council member states (except Oman) as well as Jordan, following US and Israeli aggression against Iran—was vetoed by China and Russia at a United Nations Security Council meeting on April 7, 2026.
