Initial Venezuela earthquake toll: At least 164 dead and 971 injured

Pars Today – A powerful earthquake in Venezuela has so far left 164 people dead and more than 900 injured.

According to Pars Today, citing Tasnim News Agency, the Venezuelan government announced that the death toll from the strong earthquakes in the country had risen to 164, while 971 people are receiving treatment in hospitals and medical centers.

Two major earthquakes struck central Venezuela on Thursday within seconds of each other. One of the quakes was recorded at magnitude 7.2, while the other reached 7.5 on the Richter scale.

Meanwhile, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed sympathy with the government and people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquake and prayed for the health and recovery of those injured and affected by the disaster.
