Pars Today – Global oil prices rose by more than 3 percent in the first trading session of the week in Asian markets, with Brent crude climbing above $90 per barrel.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Brent crude futures gained $2.69, or 3.05 percent, on Monday to reach $90.79 per barrel.

The benchmark had already posted a weekly increase of $15.9 in the previous week.

Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose by $2.19, or 2.65 percent, to $84.68 per barrel.

The rise in oil prices comes amid renewed U.S. military strikes against Iran over the past nine days.

As oil prices continued to climb and the United States launched a ninth consecutive night of military attacks against Iran, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center reported early Monday that a maritime incident had occurred eight nautical miles off the coast of Kumzar, Oman.
