UNICEF: Israel is preventing Palestinian children from accessing education

Pars Today – UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Hanan Suleiman, criticizing the difficult conditions created by the Israeli regime for residents of the West Bank, said that Israel is preventing 800,000 Palestinian children in the West Bank from accessing education.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Hanan Suleiman, UNICEF’s Deputy Executive Director, said at a UN Security Council meeting on the escalation of violence in the West Bank that the United Nations continues to document grave violations committed by Israel against children in the West Bank.

She cited the shooting of children in situations where they posed no imminent threat, as well as violence by Israeli settlers—including beatings, stabbings, pepper-spray attacks, attacks on homes and livelihoods, and the destruction of water infrastructure in Palestinian areas—as among these violations.

The UNICEF official added that the impact of this violence has also extended to education. According to a report by the UNICEF Education Cluster, more than 800,000 children in the West Bank and occupied al-Quds face barriers to safe and continuous access to education due to school closures, insecurity, movement restrictions, and damage to infrastructure.

The UNICEF Deputy Executive Director warned that escalating violence is reshaping the daily lives of Palestinian children, turning places that should be safe—including homes, schools, streets, and communities—into frightening and violent environments.
