Pars Today — China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that Beijing considers any unilateral US action against countries supporting Iran to be illegal.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, responding at a press conference to remarks by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about increasing pressure on countries supporting Iran, said:
“Once again, I want to stress that China opposes unilateral and illegal sanctions that have no basis in international law and have not been authorized by the UN Security Council.”
He added: “Beijing calls on all relevant parties to act responsibly and resolve issues through political and diplomatic means.”
Lin Jian also stressed that sanctions and military pressure not only fail to help resolve problems, but also contribute to escalating tensions. He added that continued tensions and an escalation of conflicts serve the interests of none of the parties involved.
