US secretary walks back his remarks

Pars Today – The US Commerce Secretary, who had previously claimed that no Americans had been killed in the war with Iran, has acknowledged the deaths of 18 US service members.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick withdrew his earlier remarks and apologized after stating that no American civilian or military personnel had been killed during the war with Iran.

Lutnick had controversially claimed that no Americans had lost their lives during the war against Iran. However, following mounting criticism, he corrected his statement and said he had been referring to US military operations in Venezuela, during which, he claimed, no American service members had been killed.

The US Commerce Secretary went on to emphasize that during the war with Iran, 18 US service members were killed.
