Trump’s continued mania over renaming geographical locations
Pars Today – Donald Trump’s obsession with renaming geographical locations has now extended to the US state of New Mexico.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, US President Donald Trump has once again turned the issue of renaming geographical locations into a political controversy, this time setting his sights on New Mexico.
Trump posted a map of the state of New Mexico on his Truth Social account yesterday, in which the word “Mexico” had been crossed out and replaced with the word “America.” The official White House account also reposted the image on X.
Trump proposed changing the name of New Mexico, writing: “Many people have suggested that the name of New Mexico, one of the greatest election-fraud states of all time, should be changed to ‘New America.’”
The proposal drew strong reactions from Democratic representatives from New Mexico.
Martin Heinrich, the Democratic senator from the state, referring to Trump’s recent moves to rename geographical locations, wrote: “Three things I will always call by their real names: the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Ontario, and New Mexico.”
