Pars Today- The Cuban president has stressed that the country will never again become a colony and will defend its independence and sovereignty.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote in a post on the social media platform X on Tuesday night: “Cuba, which knows well the meaning of having been a colony and neocolony of two empires, is clear that it will never again be one of any.”

He stressed: “The blood that has been shed for its independence, sovereignty, and self-determination will not be in vain, and we will defend it to the last consequences.”

Díaz-Canel’s emphasis on Cuba’s independence comes as relations between Havana and Washington have once again become strained following Donald Trump’s return to the White House. On Monday, the U.S. president sparked controversy by posting a photo in which Mexico, Canada, Cuba, Greenland, Iceland, and parts of the Caribbean and Central America were depicted in the colors of the U.S. flag.

On January 29, Trump signed an executive order declaring a “national emergency” in response to what the White House described as an “unusual and extraordinary threat” posed by Cuba to the security of the United States and the region.
