  • US concerns over Russia-India power alliance

Pars Today - The Indian Prime Minister has made his first visit to Moscow since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, causing concern among American officials.

Matthew Miller, the US State Department spokesperson, referred to the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Russia, saying that the United States has expressed its concerns about India's relations with Russia.

According to Pars Today, Miller expressed concern over the expansion of India-Russia relations and called on Delhi to warn Russia about the Ukraine war.

The US State Department spokesperson said: "I hope India and any country that cooperates with Russia will clearly tell them to respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the UN Charter." The US is one of the main supporters of NATO's eastward expansion, threatening Russia, and is also a key ally of Ukraine in this war.

The Indian Prime Minister, who made a two-day visit to Moscow for the first time since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, met with Putin at the Russian president's residence in Novo-Ogaryovo on Monday.

After the meeting, Modi wrote on social media: "I am eagerly waiting for the official talks with Vladimir Putin, which will further strengthen the friendship between the two countries."It is expected that the two sides will focus on economic cooperation, energy sector collaboration, trade, and the production and supply of chemical fertilizers.

Given the Ukraine crisis and the Western sanctions, particularly by the US, against Russia, the development of Moscow-Delhi cooperation is of great importance to Russia.Russia considers deepening relations with its allies crucial in countering Western political and economic pressures.

Delhi and the Kremlin have maintained close relations since the Cold War era, and Russia has been India's largest arms supplier for a long time.Meanwhile, India has become a major buyer of Russian oil, providing Moscow with a much-needed export market after being cut off from traditional buyers in Europe.
