The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, had a keynote speech at the Holy Shrine of the 8th Infallible Imam of Prophet of Islam's Household, Imam Reza (AS), in the holy city of Mashhad, in the beginning of the new Iranian solar calendar year.
The Leader referred to the solidity and freshness of the Islamic Revolution in its 40th year and the neutralization of the ominous US plots for the region; while elaborating on the necessities and approaches for materialization of this year's motto; which is "The Year of Support for Iranian Products".
In his remarks, the Leader of Islamic Revolution mentioned the resounding achievements of youths in the fields of modern industries and technologies, while reminding that the day in which the peaceful nuclear industry was launched, even some of the old generation's scientists denied the capacities and potentials of youths who were involved in this industry. However, upon the growth and development of nuclear industry to its peak, the same individuals admitted that Iranian youths fulfilled their own demands and aspirations.
Today, we study the forty-year credentials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and pay a glance at the economic capacities; and production of Iranian goods based on know-how, which partly builds and shapes Iranian nation's self-confidence.
One of the key factors in economic growth is the possession of advanced technologies, or, in other words, production of goods based on know-how.
According to the definition presented by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, know-how based economy is an economy which has been shaped based on production, distribution, and application of science and information; in which a high level of investment is allocated for innovation, and the human resources are highly educated.
On this basis, one of the key pivots which have been attended in the declared policies of the Resistance Economy, is the advancement of knowledge-based economy. To this end, the Leader of Islamic Revolution has considered the development and promotion of the country's global status; enhancement of the know-how based production, exports, and services; and accomplishment of the first rank in knowledge-based economy in the region, as some of the goals pursued by the know-how based economy.
Based on released figures, knowledge-based productions are sharply rising among the member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which constitutes of a number of powerful economies; with the export and production of hi-tech items swiftly growing in these states.
One of the features and potentials of know-how based products is their high and ample added values. Thus, investment in these products leads to continuous and constant economic growth.
In contrast to traditional productions, the knowledge-based productions are founded on innovation and creativity. Hence, the abundance of educated and skilled human resources significantly contributes to formation of competitive advantages.
Hence, the Leader of Islamic Revolution has put emphasis on the reinforcement of economic infrastructure based on the goals and aims of Knowledge-Based, Resistance Economy. This topic has been especially considered by think tanks.

Iran has invested in a number of modern scientific courses, such as generation of stem cells, nanotechnology, and peaceful nuclear technology, which are needed in the country. Currently, Iranian knowledge-based companies export their products to the markets of more than twenty countries, including Iraq, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, and South Korea, in addition to a number of other nations. Based on reliable, existing statistical figures, Iran is ranked 16th worldwide in production of science.
The International Secretary of Science Magazine, Richard Stone, notes that he is well-familiar with Iran's scientific community, which has shown an extraordinary creativity and resilience in the face of sanctions, maintaining its competitiveness in the global scientific community.
Currently, there is a fierce rivalry between developed and developing countries in this domain, and scientific superiority has turned into one of the important tools of enemies for domination of nations. Iran has embarked upon a new phase of development of science, technology, and innovation. To this end, major efforts have been made to develop infrastructures such as schools, universities, laboratories, and science and technology theme parks.
