The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the enemy’s soft war more dangerous than the military and hard war.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said, “The Islamic Revolution, during the past 40 years, has transformed the structure and formula of power ruling the world and showed that a nation can be neither dominant nor dominated; neither bully nor accept any bully.” The Leader added, “Of course, some of the American officials, with pretentious softness and covering their steel hand in velvet glove, succeeded to busy us for a while; but they were soon scandalized and today the reality of the vicious intentions of America has been completely disclosed vis-à-vis Islam and the Islamic Republic.”

Former American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in her book Hard Choices, referring to the unrests after the presidential election in 2009 in Iran, wrote that following the unrests after presidential election in Iran, Obama administration spent scores of millions of dollars to train more than 5000 opponents of Iran across the world. Barrack Obama sent a report to the Congress and Senate in which he explained the measures of Washington in the field of soft war against the Islamic Republic during the 2009 sedition. Obama’s report made it clear that the day after the election VOA put two new programs on its agenda to “inform” Iranians about the events in their country.

Mahdi Fazaeli, expert of political affairs, said, “One of the reasons for complexity of the 2009 sedition was that the anti-Revolution current had recruited all its capacity to the field and that capacity was not brought to the field just for the election; the main goal was to overthrow the establishment.”

The street riots after the presidential election in 2009 were stirred at the juncture when the US and its allies had been frustrated in their efforts to isolate Iran and disappoint the people. The people’s overwhelming turnout in the election, and that 31 years after the revolution, smashed the westerners’ calculations.

To cast doubt on the people’s massive participation in the election was one of the US’s sinister goals. The documents and evidences attained after the sedition show that some agents from outside the country in collaboration with their lackeys inside, directed the plot. Sa’dollah Zarei, a political analyst, says that the same currents, that had helped the enemy during the 8-year war, came to the scene and supported the seditionists in 2009. The 2009 sedition caused unrest and chaos in streets for several months. But on the 9th of Dey, 1388 (December 30, 2009), the entire nation poured to the streets like a colossal flood and thwarted the conspiracy of enemies. The Leader said, “The 9th of Dey with such grandeur, was the nation’s response to these games and was in defence of the values of revolution and religion.”

The conspicuous presence of the people in the demonstrations of December 30, 2009 and their resistance against sedition showed that this nation as a firm base for the revolution and the system will not let the enemies to infiltrate. Abdullah Motavallian, political researcher, said, “The perseverance of the Iranian nation against the currents like terrorism, war and economic sanctions urged the US to think of changing the pattern of overthrowing in Iran. Thus, they focused on the project of soft overthrowing.

The results of a field research by an experienced team including Patrick Clawson, Francis Fukuyama, Conte Timmerman and Samuel Huntington, was concluded in the new doctrine of America which was to overthrow the Islamic Republic via soft war. This project stresses every political, economic, security, social and cultural domain. The United States of America, with the help of the propaganda apparatus and the vast economic and political network, has organized soft wars against target countries.

Andrew Korybko, Russian analyst, says, “The US after the experience of the costly disaster of Iraq war and occupation of the country in 2003, switched from large-scale wars to soft wars. These wars by nature are asymmetric and “internal/civil” wars.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The realities of the country show that the nation and its young generation have decided not to be humiliated, not to be flunkey of foreign powers and enemy; and take dear Iran to the pinnacle of dignity and honour, which is able and resolute to do this with God’s grace.”

As the Leader has stressed several times, the tremendous expenses that the US is spending with the aim of stirring political, religious, ethnic and language differences will fail and the Iranian nation will continue making progress and the Americans will be frustrated once more.
