The cost of the US presidential election campaigns is equivalent to the budget of the global campaign against illiteracy for a period of fifteen months.

The contemporary era is characterized by huge scientific developments.

The scientific accomplishments of mankind in the recent century have been unprecedented compared to other phases of history.

Nonetheless, at least 17% of the global community is illiterate. Two thirds of those illiterate are women, and 67.4 million children have never attended school, worldwide.

UNESCO is an international organization which has been founded to uproot illiteracy and to materialize man’s scientific progress. This international body’s budget for the year 2016 stands at $1.18bn.

In the meantime, the cost of the two US presidential hopefuls’ election campaigns in the year 2016, total $1.6bn.
