Iranian Market (20)
Welcome to another episode of the Iranian Market. In this episode, we are going to discuss one of Iran’s non- oil productions which is classified in the field of science and technology. Nanotechnology is one of the Iran’s greatest achievements after the victory of Islamic Revolution.
Nanotechnology is a field of research and innovation concerned with building things on the scale of nanometer.
As experts say, nanotechnology is considered as having the potential to
increase the efficiency of energy consumption, help clean the environment, and solve major health problems.
Experts also believe that nanotechnology is able to increase manufacturing production at significantly reduced costs. Nanotechnology experts believe that products of nanotechnology will be smaller, cheaper, lighter but more functional. These products also require less energy and fewer raw materials to manufacture.
The Islamic Republic of Iran ranks fourth in nanotechnology in the world by publishing 8,791 articles in the field. Iran holds the fourth place above countries such as South Korea, Germany, Japan and France.
According to reports, Iran’s first researches in this field started in 2000 and with publishing 9 articles, the Islamic Republic achieved the rank of 52 in that year.
The national nanotechnology development headquarters was established in 2005. This achievement was gained with the aim of making policies, assessing achievements in the field of nanotechnology, raising public awareness about nanoscience, improving quality of life and creating big advantageous markets.
Recognizing the importance of nanotechnology, Iranians have had boosted researches in this field year on year.
Also according to reports, there are 257 companies active in this field, 33 percent of which working on Nano-materials.
These companies have manufactured over 420 different products using nanotechnology.
All of these facts show that nanotechnology is a field with huge economic advantages. Reports also show that Iran’s nanotech products are being exported to 47 different countries around the world.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has gained notable achievements in the field of nanotechnology in recent years.
According to governmental statistics,
Iranian researchers have published a considerable number of International Scientific Indexing (ISI) papers in the field of nanotechnology in recent years.
According to the StatNano report published in January 2018, more than 154,000 nanotechnology related articles were indexed in Web of Science in 2017. Official figures show that there is a small distance between Iran and advanced countries in the field of nanotechnology.
Iran has already exported $35 million worth of nanotechnology products.
Iranian companies produce over 420 Nano products in different products including healthcare, textile, home appliances, energy and laboratory equipment. Nano-medicines, advanced Nano-materials and Nano-medical devices are on top list of the Islamic Republic for exporting to different countries around the world.
