UNICEF: Over 40,000 children orphaned during Gaza war
Pars Today – The spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Palestine issued a warning Wednesday about the dire condition of children in the Gaza Strip, stating that initial statistics indicate over 40,000 children have been orphaned during the war — a number that continues to rise alarmingly.
In a press briefing, Kazem Abou Khalaf said that since October 7, 2023, an average of 27 children have martyred each day in Gaza — an unprecedented statistic unmatched anywhere else in the world.
He added that when wounded children are taken into account, the daily number of child victims in the Gaza Strip during this period reaches 83.
Abou Khalaf also warned that the collapse of Gaza’s health system currently threatens the lives of thousands of children. / IRNA
