Moscow: Iran’s legitimate interests must be respected

Pars Today – On Thursday evening, the Russian Foreign Ministry, referring to a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali concerning Tehran’s nuclear dossier, emphasized the importance of upholding international law and recognizing Iran’s legitimate interests.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting, both Iranian and Russian officials expressed a shared interest in preventing the escalation of tensions fueled by speculation regarding alleged threats from Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the importance of continuing negotiations to dispel unwarranted suspicions and prejudices about Iran’s nuclear activities and reiterated that adherence to international law and respect for Iran’s legitimate interests are essential. (IRNA)
