Iran urges EU3 to respect sovereign rights in letter to UNSC
Pars Today – Iran’s ambassador to the UN called on the European troika to respect states’ sovereign rights under international law in response to their accusations about violating UNSC Resolution 2231 and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
In a letter to the UN secretary-general and Security Council's president, Amir Saeid Iravani stated that the real threat to international peace and security lies not in Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, but in continued unilateral and illegal coercive measures that flagrantly violate international law and the UN Charter. He warned that any attempt to revive expired Security Council resolutions would lack legal validity and could dangerously destabilize the region.
