Construction of Iran's first Petropars solar power plant begins
Pars Today – The CEO of Petropars Group has announced the launch of construction of Iran’s first solar power plant, named after Martyr Hossein Hamedani, in city of Saveh, Markazi Province. He said the project reflects the Ministry of Petroleum’s strategic policy to develop renewable energy and diversify the country’s energy portfolio.
Hamid Reza Saghafi, speaking at the ceremony to launch the first solar power plant in Saveh, stated: "The implementation of this project symbolizes the realization of the macro policies of the Ministry of Oil of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of diversifying the country's energy portfolio and developing renewable energies."
Highlighting the investment features of this project, Saghafi also announced plans for two other major solar initiatives: a 200-megawatt solar power plant in Yazd, and a large-scale 1,000-megawatt facility in Arak. He emphasized that these projects would continue with strong resolve, support from the Ministry of Petroleum, and the exceptional efforts of Petropars’ human capital.
Iran’s Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, also spoke at the ceremony and stressed the significance of Petropars entering the renewable energy sector. He noted that, having already proven its capabilities in the development of the South Pars Gas Field, Petropars is now taking a crucial step toward sustainable development and national self-sufficiency by entering the solar power sector.
