Russia officially recognizes Taliban gov't in Afghanistan
Pars Today – The Russian ambassador to Kabul has announced his country's official recognition of the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
In a statement released last night, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Taliban government met and conferred with the Russian Ambassador to Kabul, Dmitry Zhirnov. During the meeting, the Russian envoy formally conveyed his country’s decision to recognize the Taliban government. He described the move as significant and called it a historic step in strengthening bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Russia.
Amir Khan Muttaqi welcomed the decision, calling it a new chapter in mutual respect, constructive engagement, and bilateral relations.
