Lebanon’s president rejects normalization with Israel
Pars Today – The president of Lebanon has rejected any form of normalization with the Israeli regime and reaffirmed support for a "state of war" with an entity that still occupies parts of Lebanese territory.
In his first official response to statements by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on June 30, who said Tel Aviv is interested in normalizing relations with Syria and Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun asserted that normalization is not part of Lebanon’s foreign policy. “Peace means the absence of war. What concerns us now is the state of war,” he said, adding that normalization has no place in Lebanon’s current diplomatic agenda." Aoun called on the Israeli army to withdraw from five areas in southern Lebanon that remain under occupation. /IRIB news agency
