Baqaei: Shanghai should voice opposition to European Troika’s activation of “Snapback” against Iran
Pars Today – The spokesperson of Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that any international organization or multilateral arrangement, in order to be regarded as credible, effective, and functional, must support and protect its members when they face challenges. He added: “Now, in this upcoming event, it is expected that the Shanghai Organization will, with a unified voice, express its opposition to the abuse of power by the three European countries.”
“Esmaeil Baqaei,” in an interview with China’s Xinhua News Agency, elaborated on Iran–China relations, the upcoming Shanghai summit in Beijing, and the participation of “Masoud Pezeshkian,” President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in this international event.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson described the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an emerging international grouping, noting that the aspirations of its leaders are founded on upholding the rule of law at the international level and on shared values. He also emphasized the determination of Iranian and Chinese leaders to strengthen bilateral relations, adding that the two countries’ 25-year cooperation agreement is being implemented and making progress.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson described terrorism as a serious concern and threat to all members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, adding that the SCO can serve as a highly effective framework for cooperation among countries of the Global South. Baqaei also called President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Beijing a turning point in the development of bilateral relations and in consolidating Tehran’s position and role within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
