BRICS: Redefining global order Instead of disrupting it

BRICS Group
Pars Today – Amid the weakening of Western hegemony and the ongoing transition in the international system, BRICS, as an alliance of emerging powers, does not seek to overthrow the existing global order but rather to reform and redefine it on the basis of multilateralism, justice, and global stability.
During this period of structural transformation in the international system and the decline of Western dominance, BRICS has emerged as a symbol of convergence among rising powers. Comprising countries such as China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, and Iran, the group aims to promote a more multipolar and democratic world order—one founded on equality and mutual respect rather than domination and exclusivity.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, contrary to common perceptions, BRICS is not an “anti-Western” bloc. Rather, its goal is to reform and reorganize the current global system. The group argues that it is the West itself, through unilateral and contradictory behavior, that poses the greatest threat to the existing order. Examples of such self-destructive actions include the United States’ new tariff policies, which contradict the principles of the World Trade Organization, and the West’s unconditional support for the Zionist regime—policies that have also undermined the legitimacy of international institutions such as the UN Security Council.
In contrast, BRICS emphasizes the preservation of global order based on international law and the UN Charter. The leaders of Russia and China have repeatedly stressed that the future order must be more inclusive, equitable, and multipolar in nature.
Rejecting the West’s neo-colonial models, the alliance places the principles of equal partnership and non-interference in internal affairs at the core of its cooperation. Economically, BRICS promotes a development model free of political preconditions, exemplified by the establishment of the BRICS Development Bank, which seeks to provide financial support to countries without imposing political conditions.
Ultimately, through proposals for new financial and trade systems, BRICS aims to create alternatives to Western-dependent mechanisms such as SWIFT, in order to prevent the global economy from being used as a tool of political coercion. In this way, BRICS is not striving to dismantle the global order, but to evolve it toward greater fairness and sustainability.
