Pars Today – The head of the Palestinian Authority announced that if the PA leadership becomes vacant, his deputy, Hussein al-Sheikh, will assume his duties.
According to Al Arabiya, Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, issued a new legal directive stipulating that if the PA leadership becomes vacant and in the absence of the Legislative Council, the Deputy Chairman of the PLO Executive Committee will temporarily assume the responsibilities of the PA leadership.
The legal directive states that this temporary period will last a maximum of 90 days, during which free and direct elections will be held to choose a new head according to the Palestinian Election Law. If holding elections within this period is not possible, the term may be extended once for another period by decision of the Palestinian Central Council. / IRIB News Agency
