Pars Today – The Legal and International Affairs Deputy of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Afghanistan’s cooperation in resolving bilateral issues, including water and border matters.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy for Legal and International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized on the last day of his visit to Kabul: “Alongside various areas of cooperation with Afghanistan, we collaborate on issues such as judicial matters, the transfer of convicts, water resources, and shared borders.” Referring to the water rights treaty between Afghanistan and Iran signed in 1972, he added: “Regarding water issues, challenges such as the Hamun wetlands, the Harirud River, and the provision of drinking water for the people are among the key water-related problems we face with Afghanistan.”

Gharibabadi stated that differences in perspectives have always existed in the mentioned areas of dispute and added: “The expectation of the Iranian people and government is to witness full cooperation from the Afghan government, and the level of collaboration should also be increased.” / IRIB News Agency
