Russia launches new nuclear submarine Khabarovsk

Pars Today – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the launch of a new advanced nuclear submarine, which, according to officials, will play a key role in defending Russia’s national interests.

The nuclear submarine Khabarovsk was launched in a ceremony attended by Andrei Belousov, Russia’s Defense Minister. This heavy submarine, designed by the Rubin Design Bureau, is equipped with modern underwater weapon systems and robotic equipment.

According to Russian officials, the Khabarovsk is specifically designed to carry and support Poseidon, a nuclear-powered drone torpedo. Poseidon is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and creating radiation-contaminated waves to make coastal cities uninhabitable.

This development comes amid rising nuclear tensions among global powers. Donald Trump, U.S. President, recently ordered the resumption of nuclear weapons testing, and Vladimir Putin had previously announced the successful testing of Russia’s new nuclear weapons. /IRNA
