BBC chief vows to stand firm against Trump’s legal threat
Pars Today – The senior leadership of the BBC has emphasized that the network will stand up to legal threats from the U.S. President.
Samir Shah, the chair of the BBC’s Board of Directors, announced that he is determined to legally confront the threat made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The BBC executive referred to Trump’s threat to seek $1–5 billion in damages over what he claims was the distortion of one of his speeches, saying there is no basis for any defamation lawsuit against the BBC.
These remarks came after Trump said he intends to file a lawsuit worth between one and five billion dollars against the BBC for editing his speech in a documentary. The U.S. president accused the BBC of misrepresenting his remarks and told reporters that legal action would begin “next week.” /IRNA
