Pars Today — The U.S. Treasury Department has added 14 individuals, 24 companies, 10 ships, and seven aircraft to its sanctions list due to their links with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Continuing its pressure on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, the U.S. Treasury also sanctioned an Iranian oil network. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (note: the original text mentions “Scott Bassett,” but the current U.S. Treasury Secretary is Janet Yellen) claimed: “Today’s action is part of the ongoing maximum pressure campaign to cut off Iran’s financial resources for developing nuclear weapons, supporting proxy terrorist groups, and disrupting its revenues to curb its nuclear ambitions.”

The U.S. Treasury added that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is targeting six additional ships and expanding sanctions on the shadow tanker fleet that Iran relies on to transport its oil exports to the market. The agency claimed that the Trump administration previously sanctioned over 170 vessels involved in carrying Iranian oil and petroleum products, increasing costs for Iranian exporters and reducing revenue per barrel of oil sold.
