Pars Today – The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Tuesday that the Agency wants to fully re-engage with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Rafael Grossi, in remarks that made no mention of Iran’s long-standing cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, said: “We want to fully re-engage with the Islamic Republic so that we can resume inspection activities at its nuclear sites and facilities.”

The statements by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), made in Manila, come after the Agency’s Board of Governors issued a resolution last Thursday—initiated by the European troika and the United States—which, without the slightest reference to the U.S. aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities last summer, declared that Iran must “without delay” inform the Agency about the status of its enriched uranium stockpiles and its bombed nuclear sites.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, also announced that, following this development, the Cairo Agreement is now considered terminated. The agreement, signed on September 9 of this year, outlined the framework for inspector access to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
