Pars Today – Iran’s representative at the UN Forum on Minority Issues criticized the double standards of certain countries in presenting a distorted image of the Islamic Republic and enforcing structural discrimination against Iran.

Speaking on Wednesday (26 November 2025) in Geneva, Sara Fallahi, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, read a statement on the opening day of the 18th Session of the UN Forum on Minority Issues, defending Iran’s achievements in the field of minority rights.

Fallahi condemned the biased and unjustified obstruction by some Western governments—who claim to champion human rights—of Professor Sattar Azizi, an Iranian Sunni and Kurdish scientist, from assuming the presidency of the UN Forum on Minority Issues. This was despite his unanimous support from all members of the Asia–Pacific Group of the Human Rights Council. She said this action is a clear example of discrimination based on nationality and reflects a structural and systematic anti-Iran pattern that certain Western governments have institutionalized over the years. /IRIB
