Death toll from Hong Kong fire rises to 128

Pars Today – The death toll from a major fire at a residential complex in Hong Kong has risen to 128.

The number of fatalities in the deadly fire at the Wang Fuk Court residential complex has reached 128. Chris Tang, Hong Kong’s Secretary for Security, stated at a press conference that around 200 people are still missing, raising fears that more bodies may be found.

The fire, which lasted from Wednesday to Friday, was fueled by bamboo scaffolding covered with netting, reportedly installed by a construction company. So far, eight individuals have been arrested, including subcontractors responsible for the scaffolding, managers of an engineering consulting firm, and project supervisors overseeing the reconstruction. / IRNA
