Pars Today – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the U.S. action to close Venezuelan airspace a violation of international law and a threat to global aviation safety.
Esmaeil Baqaei, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, condemned the U.S. move, describing it as a threat to aviation safety and a continuation of Washington’s provocative policies against Venezuela’s sovereignty.
According to Pars Today, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that all Venezuelan airspace and its surrounding areas should be considered closed. Hours after Trump’s threat regarding the closure of Venezuelan airspace, the skies over the oil-rich country were reportedly empty.
Since August, Washington has deployed warships, submarines, military aircraft, and troops along Venezuela’s coasts under the pretext of combating drug trafficking. Reports indicate that about one-third of the U.S. naval fleet is stationed in the region. /IRNA
