2019 Volleyball World Cup: USA 3-1 Iran

Iran's National Volleyball Team (Team Melli) lost to USA 3-1 in the second phase of round-robin play of the FIVB 2019 World Cup in Japan.

According to Press TV, Igor Kolakovic’s rejuvenated squad handed over the opener 25-18, but came back in the 2nd to top USA at 25-22.

The Americans then capitalized on Iran's errors to take the decisive 3rd set 25-18, and held on to the momentum to cap off the victory with an easy 25-12 in the 4th set.

Aaron Russell tallied 18 points for team USA, while Amir Ghafour contributed 17 points for Iran.

Next, the 2nd placed US will face undefeated Brazil and Iran will meet the winless Tunisia, both on Thursday.
