Iran thrashes Cambodia 14-0 in World Cup qualifiers
Iran’s National Football Team (Team Melli) Iran have shipped a mind blowing 14 goals against Cambodia in their Asian qualifiers Group C clash, this time with Iranian female fans cheering them on at the Azadi Stadium.
According to Press TV, Iran opened the scoring with Ahmad Nourollahi, who fired a long-range shot into the net, but that was just the start as Sardar Azmoun made it 2-0 and Hossein Kanaanizadegan tripled the lead for Iran before Mehdi Taremi added the 4th.
Azmoun scored 2 more goals and Karim Ansarifard netted another to register a 7-0 half-time victory for Iran.
After the restart, Alireza Beiranvand denied Cambodia from the penalty spot to carry on with clean-sheet, and a minute later Ansarifard tallied one more goal for Iran. Mehdi Taremi then lobbed the keeper, before Ansarifard led Iran into a double-digit advantage right on the hour-mark.
Then it was debutant Mohammad Mohebi who completed a brace in 2 minutes. But that wasn’t quite the end yet, as Mehrdad Mohammadi dashed through the Cambodian defense to open the net once again, and finally Karim Ansarifard rounded off the match with a close-range effort to set the stands on their feet.
