President Hassan Rouhani emphasized that Tehran and Jakarta should reinforce their mutual cooperation to help solve the current problems and crises facing the Islamic world.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Iran and Indonesia are two major Muslim world countries that represent the moderate Islam, President Rouhani said in a meeting with Indonesia’s new ambassador to Tehran Kata Veun Alimudin on Tuesday.

He added that the two nations should make every effort to enhance their solidarity and cooperation to help settle the problems of the Muslim world in the face of extremist and terrorist groups.

Elsewhere, the president said Tehran is ready to boost its ties with Jakarta in diverse fields, including economy, energy, culture, and technology.

Alimudin, who submitted his credentials to the President Rouhani, said Indonesia is determined to strengthen its cooperation with Iran in all fields, stressing that there is no obstacle in the way of expansion of relations between the two countries.

Back in March, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid an official visit to Jakarta, during which he held separate meetings with senior officials of the East Asian country, including President Joko Widodo, on developing the ties between Tehran and Jakarta as well as regional issues.
