President Rouhani inaugurates major petchem plant in SW Iran

President Hassan Rouhani launched Lordegan Petrochemical Company in the southwestern province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the President inaugurated Lordegan Petrochemical Company via video links on Thursday.

The ammonia unit of the major petrochemical facility can produce 677,000 tons of ammonia per year. The urea unit of the plant has also an annual production capacity of 1,075 tons.

Some $800 million has been invested in the two units so far.

The construction of the plant has directly created jobs for some 2,800 workers, while employing 450 people indirectly.

The Lordegan Petrochemical Company is a subsidiary of the Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group, located 55km off the city of Lordegan.
